I saw recently that it was on the list of the Worst 10 Firefox extensions because it's too difficult for the average user to use. That's sorta the point: security is not something that you get for free, but is a tradeoff. In this case, security comes at the price of ease-of-use.

While at it: disabling JS is not a bad idea either. Use FF & NoScript for world peace.
